Bear Card with KNK Zing, Lettering Delights & Make the Cut

Look at the detail the KNK Zing can cut!

I’m using a new machine today!  It’s the KNK Zing.  So far, I’ve only used paper in it but I’m extremely impressed with what it was able to do.  The detail it cut is incredible.  Look at the table, the lamp, the toes of the bear.  Wow.  That is ama-ZING in my book.

It’s the KNK Zing cutting machine! I love it!

Did you see the Free Shipping button I put on the right hand side of the page?  Look right over there — >>  Did you see it?  Well, if free shipping on all Joy’s Life stamps is still going on you did. ;)  If not, it looks just like that page that’s printed out in the photo.  I created it by using the “Merci Bear Coup” images from Lettering Delights.  I liked it so much, I thought it would be fun to use the cut files and turn it into a card.  That bear is so cute.  He needs to live in my craft room.

I’ve used Make the Cut since it first came out.  I give it 2 thumbs up.

One thing I really like about using Make the Cut is that it shows you all of the Lettering Delights cut-it files, making it easy to quickly use the files you own and browse others you might enjoy.  A cool pairing?  MTC comes bundled with the KNK Zing.  Nice.

On my screen above, I’ve got the layers of some of the pieces I plan to cut.

Look at that tiny bear smile.

This is the first thing I’ve made with the KNK Zing.  The fact that the machine could be detailed enough to leave that bear smile perfectly in the paper won me over.  Not only that, but it also cut a miniscule diamond shape from the center of the bear’s table AND left the tiny knob on top of the bear’s lamp.  The bear is grateful, I am impressed.

The KNK Zing has a clear mat. It’s strong too.

The KNK Zing is the most powerful home cutter I’ve used.  Knowing that, I’m eager to try some thicker materials in it.  Even though I’m just starting out, I’m finding the machine to be pretty easy to learn.  I do need to spend more time learning to get the blade length just right.  It is not a click-into-place blade, so you have all the control over the blade length.  You adjust it based on the material you are using.

So many adhesives, so little time.

A glue pen can be so helpful when dealing with tiny pieces.  All of these are good choices.  The Quickie Glue Pen did a terrific job helping me adhere that super skinny bit of coffee to the top of the pink mug.  To stick down the table, I used the Xyron “X” Create-a-Sticker (not shown).  Tiny pieces also call for tweezers.  I use these: EK Success Tweezer Bee.

Bear Hug!

It’s coming together! I used the Argyle Cuttlebug embossing folder on the bottom half of the card.

Pop dots are your sticky friend.

I added some small pop dots to the bear and his coffee mug.  To create the little banner, I used leftover paper and cut at an angle at each end of the white paper.

All bears drink coffee. It’s a well known fact.

Like that saying on the card?  It comes from one of my new sets of stamps Sweet Popsicle Puns.  Check them out here.

I hope you enjoyed the card and my first creation using the KNK Zing!  I’ll be using it again soon. :)
